House Bill 1179 is proposing that the state Parks and Wildlife code be amended by ordering restitution to the owner of wildlife resources that have had land taken/used without their consent. Currently, restitution is given to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, instead of directly to the individual person affected. The bill is currently being discussed, and if passed will take effect on September 1st 2013. There is is significant fiscal impact projected.
