83rd Legislative Session Update
House Bill number 220 proposes that we take a look at consecutive criminal sentences as a result of child, elder, and/or disabled persons abuse. If the offender is found guilty multiple times for these sort of offenses, the sentences are allowed to be consecutive and/or concurrent, but only under the specific listed circumstances. House Bill 220 would take effect on September 1st of 2013, and would be effective to offenses only occurring on or after the effective date. If any aspect of the crime was committed before the effective date, then the entire offense is considered to be before the date.
